If you are involved in an auto accident, you have 14 days to seek medical care if necessary. According the Florida law, if you do not get an Emergency Medical Condition declared by a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), then your insurance company is only legally bound to cover $2500 of the $10,000 of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) that you pay in your premium. These laws are very confusing, but Sarasota Family Medical will guide you through the confusion and help you get the full coverage you need if medically necessary. With a team of ER trained providers, we will use all the tools at our disposal (x-ray, ultrasound) to determine the urgency of your injuries. Our network of relationships with physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, pain management specialists, and neurosurgeons allows us to get you scheduled quickly with specialists if needed.

Emergency Rooms and hospitals operate under different laws and therefore have different fees that can legally charge and collect. Unless you sustain injuries that require you to leave the scene of an accident via ambulance, you may want to consider an urgent care setting before going to an Emergency Room after an auto accident. He is board certified both in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine and has cared for thousands of auto accident patients in both local ERs and Sarasota Family Medical, which cares for emergency, urgent care, and walk-in patients Monday-Saturday. Dr. Letts speaks French fluently and his able staff speaks Spanish if patients need help communicating their injuries.
